Wedding Items: Should You Rent or Buy?

When it comes to planning your wedding you surely have a budget that you are working incredibly hard to stick to. Knowing what to rent and what to buy can help you in sticking to a budget because some things are cheaper to buy, and some are cheaper to rent. You also have to consider memories and sentimental value when choosing whether to rent or buy.

    Your Venue

In most cases, you will be renting a venue. Whether opting for a bed and breakfast or exploring mansion wedding venues, Charleston couples will find that there are multiple choices. Simply explore your budget to make the best choice.

    Dress and Tux

You will likely want to purchase your gown because this has sentimental value and can be passed on to your daughter when she gets married in the future. Plus, you can find beautiful wedding gowns for pretty good prices if you know when and how to look. Now, a wedding tuxedo rental is a good idea because tuxedos are rarely inexpensive. You can rent one for a couple hundred dollars, but they tend to cost over $1,000 to buy one that is high in quality.

Your centerpieces are something that you often want to keep. You may even make these on your own giving them a really personal touch. So, you want to buy these. Once you own them, you are able to give them away to special guests, keep one or two for yourself and, of course, it is actually cheaper to make your own centerpieces than it is to rent elaborate pieces.

This includes your table cloths as well as everything used for food and drinks. You are going to save a bundle by renting these. Plus, why would you need dozens of chairs, tables and table cloths in the future? Just rent them and then once your reception is over you are done with them. You do not want to pack up boxes of dinnerware either. You likely got a great formal dining set as a wedding gift so no need to bring home more formal dishes. Also, when you buy these they tend to charge per piece. When you rent these, you can often get a bulk rate so that they are far less expensive.

Of course, another reason to rent these items is because you will not have to do the cleaning. This will usually be done by the rental company after the items are returned.

You can see that whether you are getting married in your backyard or at one of the mansion wedding venues in Charleston, knowing what to rent and what to buy is important. This information saves you money and time.
