    Things to Do in Charleston Everyone is talking about it… There’s no question now about whether or not you should visit Charleston, but you may be wondering how to narrow down your activities once you arrive. We at the Governor’s House Inn Bed and Breakfast want to ensure you have a fabulous trip. That’s why we have put together this list of unforgettable things to do in Charleston! Take a photograph of Rainbow Row. One of the most gorgeous parts of Charleston, Rainbow Row is a must-see. We’re talking about a number of colorful historic houses that run from north of Tradd Street to south of Elliot Street on East Bay Street. Pastel colors paint the houses, making it a common attraction and one of the most photographed parts of the Holy City. SEA what it’s all about at the South Carolina Aquarium. Take a journey from the mountains to the sea at the South Carolina Aquarium. There are 60 unique habitats, including a 385,000-gallon Great Ocean Tank. In addition, Shark Shallows is a new interactive experience coming in summer 2014. It features multiple species of sharks found along the coast of South Carolina. Don’t miss out on the animals, exhibits and the Sea Turtle Hospital. It’s a trip you’ll always remember. Shop on King Street.      King Street is a favorite among visitors and locals. From boutiques and main street shops to mom and pop restaurants, you can do it all between Calhoun and Market streets. Be sure to experience this part of Charleston. It’s where tons of action occurs. Take a walk along the Battery. The Battery stretches along the lower shores of the Charleston peninsula. It’s bordered by the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, and is a landmark defensive seawall and promenade. Famous for its stately, mainly antebellum homes, the Battery is quite the tourist destination. Visit the Charleston Farmer’s Market.  Located in Marion Square at the heart of downtown Charleston, the Farmer’s Market was founded in 1989. It’s open each Saturday from April to December, and on select Sundays during the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in May and June. Stop by to browse a variety of local produce, plants, herbs and cut flowers. There are usually lunch vendors, live entertainment and an assortments of arts and crafts as well. Tour Fort Sumter National Monument.  This third system masonry sea fort is located in the Charleston Harbor. Fort Sumter is the site upon which shots that started the American Civil War were fired. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. Browse the Historic Charleston City Market. This is a popular destination for everyone visiting Charleston. The Charleston City Market is open 364 days a year. You’ll encounter a wide variety of vendors selling paintings, pottery, sweetgrass baskets, and more. Stroll through four blocks of open-air buildings. There will also be tons of dining options to choose from. Catch some sun on Isle of Palms. The drive across the connector bridge is truly breathtaking. The Isle of Palms is surrounded by the Intracoastal Waterway, the beach and the ocean.
