Top Designers are Heading to Charleston for the Spring Fashion Week

Charleston, South Carolina, is known for being one of the USA’s friendliest towns. For three days in March, it goes all out to make the big names in the fashion world welcome when it hosts its Fashion Week. The event has been held since 2007, and it has slowly been gaining a reputation as the “in” place to be seen. It is held in Marion Square, a beautiful green space in the downtown area, where numerous other events are held.

Charleston Has a Very Royal Connection

The city has not always been where it is today, and it was first known as Charles Town. Founded in 1670, it was initially located at Albemarle Point, on the west bank of the Ashley River. It was called Charles Town in honor of King Charles II of England. Ten years after its founding, it moved its location to where it is today. The city grew very quickly, and within ten years, it had become the fifth largest city in North America.

Charleston Fashion Week – A Premier North American Event

Returning for its 12th year, Charleston Fashion Week brings together some of the biggest names in fashion. As well as some of the leading designers, new talent also has a place. Many of the top boutiques show off their latest designs and the catwalks are a blaze with some dazzling talent. Hot on the heels of the New York Fashion Week, this South Carolina city invites trend setters to enjoy the city for 5 days, between the 13th and the 17th March.

What You Can Expect to See

Charleston Fashion Week is known for being a truly multimedia event. There are collections from some very well-known designers, various activities both on and off-site around the city, after-parties and of course lots of shopping. The aim of the event is to showcase emerging designers and model talent from across the US. Also to raise awareness of various brands and increase the economic development of the region.

    Where You Can Stay

If you’re planning to visit the city and participate in the event, you’ll need to book your accommodation early. Leave it till the last minute and you might be out of luck for a place to stay. A variety of places are available, including a bed and breakfast in Charleston, hotels, and historic inns and lodgings. A B & B in Charleston is a great choice if you want a warm and inviting place to relax and lay your head after a hectic day shopping or watching the latest runway models. You’ll also be able to fuel up with a tasty breakfast before you head back again the next day.

Lovers of fashion, and those who love to shop, will appreciate a few days at the Fashion Week. Picking the right kind of accommodation will add to the experience, and there is plenty to choose from. Be right there to enjoy all the latest fashion, and you won’t have to worry about traveling too far with all your purchases.
