    Things to Do in Charleston Are you planning a new year and new adventures? We suggest you start your quest in the Lowcountry. Take a look at all of these things to do in Charleston in January!

    • January 8 – January 19
    • Charleston Restaurant Week
    • One of the most highly anticipated events in the Lowcountry, Charleston Restaurant Week is back in January! The event is executed by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association Inc. It gives visitors and residents the chance to enjoy the world-renowned cuisine of the Lowcountry as participating restaurants offer prix fixe lunch and dinner menus that consist of three items for one price.
    • January 11
    • Oysters on the Point
    • From 2 to 6 p.m., visit Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina for Oysters on the Point. There will be live music by The Bushels, adult beverages and tons of oysters! College football will be playing on the big screen and the Parade of Boats will immediately follow the oyster roast. Buckets of oysters will be $9.
    • January 12
    • Second Sunday on King Street
    • Head to King Street for some of the best shopping in America. And don’t just take our word for it…that’s according to U.S. News and World Report. This is the one Sunday afternoon during the month that cars will be re-routed and the street will become lively with outdoor dining, live music and special deals.
    • January 17 – January 19
    • Charleston Marathon
    • The No. 1 city in the world will host the Charleston Marathon and its other partnering events from January 17-19, 2014. In addition to the marathon, there will be a half marathon, Shrimp & Grifts 5K, Bike Ride and Youth Marathon program. This is a great time to visit the Lowcountry and experience the charm and hospitality that have come to make Charleston famous. Even better, participating will help raise funds for a good cause. Fine arts programs in community schools will reap the benefits!
    • January 19
    • Barry Manilow
    • Multi-million selling artist Barry Manilow will make his way to Charleston for this highly anticipated event at the North Charleston Coliseum. He is the undisputed No. 1 adult contemporary artist of all time. Don’t miss it!
    • January 26
    • 31st Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival
    • This is the world’s largest oyster festival! It has been named one of the top 20 events in the southeast by the Southeastern Tourism Society. There will be oyster shucking and oyster eating contests, along with live music, wine, and a selection of domestic and imported beers. The Lowcountry Oyster Festival will benefit the Ronald McDonald House, Hospitality Heroes, Hollings Cancer Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and the Charleston County Schools Science Materials Resource Center.
    • January 26
    • Braise and Brew Festival
    • Middleton Place will play host to the annual Braise and Brew beer dinner. It combines Holy City’s finest beers with a robust menu of braised fare, served over several courses. The event is set for Sunday, January 26 and will run from 6 to 9 p.m.
    • January 30 – January 31
    • Chosen Women’s Conference
    • Mark you calendar now for the Chosen Women’s Conference at Seacoast Church in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. You will leave renewed and encouraged after hearing from nationally known speakers. Speakers include Greg Surratt, Jen Hatmaker, Christine Caine, and Mercy Lokulutu.
