    Planning an Inexpensive B&B Stay

Whether one is planning a romantic getaway in Charleston or a visit with the family, there are things one can do to ensure that it is as cheap as possible, while still being a wonderful experience.

    Book Ahead

The best time to book one’s stay seems to be about 45 days before the actual stay. When one is planning for a big event, they should try to book it even earlier than that, while for big holidays, as early as possible is the rule. So, while going on a romantic getaway in Charleston at the last minute is absolutely lovely, perhaps from a financial standpoint, it may not make the most sense.

    Be Aware of Extras

While someone may have found a very cheap motel, whose price makes it more attractive than a b&b, one should also count in the extras. With a b&b, one may get much more than just breakfast. Other amenities may include wine happy hours, bicycle rentals, cookies and umbrellas. One should count those extras when comparing prices.

    Cancellation Policies

Policies regarding cancellations and modifications are different from accommodation to accommodation, which is why one should ensure that they’re careful to check it each time. While one may be certain that they want to go, unexpected things may come up making the trip impossible, in which case it’s good to know how the inn handles cancellations.

Location is very important. For many, b&bs are attractive because many times, they are located out in the country, with beautiful trails, and away from agglomeration. However, for others, this may be a huge disadvantage, especially if they’re planning on visiting a lot of places. As such, when planning the stay, one should factor in the transportation costs if their b&b is located far out.

If one is going to a romantic getaway in Charleston, the question of children has a simple answer: leave them at home with grandparents or a baby sitter. However, for other instances, one may want to bring the little ones, in which case they should check the b&b requirements, as some may not allow children because they want to keep the atmosphere as intimate and quiet as possible.

Something people love about b&bs is that many of them have resident pets that are quite fun to play with. However, this can be a problem for those who have allergies, which is why it’s a good idea to check with the inn ahead of time regarding this specific issue.
