Here’s a look at some events to note if you ever pass through this beautiful area.

Visit Some Bridal Shows and Plan Your Big Day

If you’re planning the wedding of your dreams and need some visual aid to help you make those dreams a reality, the Metropolitan Bridal Show Expo is a great place to start. Taking place ever April at one of the most historic wedding venues in Charleston at the Convention Center on Coliseum Drive, this expo is an event designed to provide brides with wide-ranging wedding planning information. It will introduce you to local vendors while presenting you with tips, scenarios and showcasing fashion trends that are ideal for whenever you walk down the aisle.

Every year, you will witness the latest bridal fashions, be treated to wedding cake samples, view prop and decor options for your ideal wedding setting; and all to soothing background music playing throughout the show. This is a good way to get involved in the wedding industry and model dresses that you can picture yourself wearing on the day you say ‘I Do.’

Be a Part of the Annual Festival of House and Gardens

The Annual Festival of House and Gardens every year in Charleston features private gardens and exteriors in keeping with protocols. If you prefer a socially-distanced experience, this festival has outdoor programming for your viewing pleasure, with safe garden tours. This festival and Glorious Garden Tours are among the more popular garden tours that make up this festival.

There are also virtual lectures, history walks, musical concerts and a lot more to enjoy during this festival, a highlight of the Spring season every year in Charleston.

Take Some Garden Strolls on a Wednesday

How do you usually fancy your Wednesday? How does an easy stroll on a Wednesday while drinking some fine wine sound? Spend your hump day with a sip and stroll while walking throughout America’s oldest landscaped gardens at Middleton Place while sampling old and new world wines.

Each Wednesday, you are able to walk on the confines of a new garden location as well as fresh wines for you to sample along the way. You can also enjoy some lovely, scenic views along the way while being provided with light snacks whenever you’re feeling a bit peckish. All of this is compliant with health and safety protocols for the COVID-19 pandemic, so you can walk and drink safely as well as responsibly.

These strolls take place from March until May, allowing you to get out of the house and enjoy the Spring weather with some treats and perks, backed by beautiful scenery.

Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival

If you love good seafood, being on the water, and having a good time, then this festival is ideal for your tastes, both literally and figuratively speaking. The Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival is considered one of the biggest events that Charleston has to offer each year, and typically takes place in April at the city’s Memorial Waterfront Park.

This festival is a tribute to the fishing and shrimping industries that are widely celebrated in Mount Pleasant. There is a boat parade as well as a ceremonial blessing of both the shrimp and fishing fleets. You can sample some of the shrimp sold by some of Mount Pleasant’s best restaurants, much of which is savory and hard to resist. There’s also a craft show, live music and many free activities on offer. And, all of this is set to the background of the Ravenel Bridge as well as the Charleston Harbor.

It’s a fun-filled event that also includes eating contests where you can prove you can eat shag and shrimp with the best of them. Meanwhile, there are also activities for the whole family and admission is free of charge.

Take in Some Jazz at Charleston Music Hall

If you’re a jazz fan and always wondered how the Jazz Orchestra aka the Big Band took shape, this is your chance to catch up on the music legacy that made them famous. After emerging in the 1920s thanks to innovators and genius musicians such as Paul Whiteman and Fletcher Henderson—both of whom merged the genre’s rhythmic and instrumental characteristics—the orchestra ushered in the swing era of the 1930s. This led to the evolution and legacy that jazz music underwent throughout its history and this event serves as a musical timeline to show you how far jazz has come in the last century.

Taking place at the historic Charleston Music Hall, Big Band Legacy – Evolution of the Jazz Orchestra performs every March. Big Band Legacy will educate you on the orchestra’s history and contributions to jazz music. While the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is required that patrons wear masks or face coverings at all times when watching this all unfold.

Charleston is the birthplace and home of so much rich history. Its traditions and storied past are reflected everywhere, from every historic inn in Charleston to mansion wedding venues in Charleston. These events will help you settle into this amazing city in South Carolina and make you feel right at home.
