Congratulations to Amanda and Andrew! This adorable couple hosted an elegant Charleston wedding in the historic district of downtown back in July, and we had the distinct pleasure of hosting their bridal party.
Amanda’s bridesmaids gathered on our veranda for hair and makeup and got a first look at Amanda’s gorgeous dress in the Rutledge Suite. Their sage gowns were very Charleston and a near perfect match to the green walls and decorative accents at The Governor’s House Inn.

The bridal party crossed the street for pictures in the park, and the ceremony was held steps away at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (constructed in 1890). The cathedral is a stunning structure featuring gothic architecture, gold leafing, unique stained glass windows and marble alters. You can learn more about its history at charlestoncathedral.com.
A cocktail hour and reception followed at Hibernian Hall on Meeting Street. Like The Governor’s House Inn, Hibernian Hall (constructed in 1840) has also been named a National Historic Landmark. The building is not open to the public, but we encourage our guests to walk by when exploring the city. The facility is available for private events, and interested parties can call 843-723-4752 for more information.
Planning a Charleston wedding? The Governor’s House Inn is conveniently located to these and other popular venues. The inn is also available for wedding ceremonies, small cocktail parties, bridal brunches and luncheons. Contact the Innkeeper for more information or to schedule a tour.
