    Charleston Events You may be in town for a holiday getaway, quick romantic trip or girls’ shopping vacay… Whatever brings you to the Lowcountry, we know you’ll enjoy your stay, especially with all these Charleston events in December! All Month 2013 Holiday Festival of Lights This is one of the most beloved nighttime events in the area! James Island County Park comes alive with illumination through December 31st! The three-mile driving tour features more than 750 shining displays. In addition, you’ll find marshmallow roasting, festival train rides, the Amazing Dancing Light Display, Enchanted Walking Trail, gingerbread house displays, 50-ton sand sculpture, giant greeting cards, old-fashioned carousel, portable climbing wall, Santa’s Sweet Shoppe, unique gift shops and the Reindeer Workshop! A Christmas Carol The Dickens tale returns to Woolfe Street Playhouse just in time for the holidays. “A Christmas Carol” is said to be a bold theatrical re-imagining of a classic Christmas story. This performance uses only Charles Dickens’ words and a chameleon ensemble of eight actors. Tickets are $30 for adults, $27 for seniors, $20 for students and $15 for kids 12 and under. The Charleston Christmas Special Over 9,000 people see it each year! In 2013, ‘The Charleston Christmas Special” will be all new and filled with more of your favorite holiday songs and dances. It takes place at the Charleston Music Hall. We recommend getting your tickets now because this show sells out quickly. 5th Annual Holiday Pub Crawl The Holiday Pub Crawl visits historic taverns and pubs. This 2.5-hour tour visits four historic pubs where everyone can have their favorite beverage and enjoy complimentary appetizers at two out of the four pubs. December 1 33rd Annual Charleston Christmas Parade Sponsored by the Tri-County Fire Chief’s Association, the City of Charleston Christmas Parade will run from 2 to 4 p.m. It starts at the intersection of Calhoun and Meeting Streets and proceeds down King Street to Broad Street to Lockwood Boulevard. December 7 23rd Annual Reindeer Run The Reindeer Run has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. In 2012, the race had a record of 3,500 runners! This 5k run/walk goes through the lower peninsula of downtown Charleston. Piggly Wiggly and Half-Moon Outfitters present the family-oriented, pet-friendly race. The Charitable Society of Charleston has donated over $575,000 to the Medical University of South Carolina throughout the history of the event. You can have fun and help a great cause at the same time! The party starts at the finish line in front of Southend Brewery, the official race headquarters. There will be music, food and drinks! December 13 King Street Shop Walk This is one of the biggest events of the season. More than 60 King Street retailers will offer you a night of discounted shopping, holiday celebration and entertaining fun. Proceeds benefit the Center for Women. December 18 Jingle Bell Ball – Avril Lavigne, The Fray and Daughtry This is the first year for the Jingle Bell Ball at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Tickets are on sale now!
