    Aug. 3

    Reggae Concert Series

    James Island County Park

    Enjoy a reggae concert by Mystic Vibrations as you relax in one of the Charleston area’s gorgeous county parks. The concert is open to all ages, and free to children 12 and under. Crafters and other vendors will be on site showcasing all the area has to offer.

    North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center

    Season 12 Idol finalists will perform your favorite moments from the season, as well as never-before seen performances. Plus, $1 from every ticket will be donated to the Melanoma Research Alliance. It’s a win-win for everyone. Buy your tickets before it sells out!

    Aug. 7

    4th Annual Splash Day

    Memorial Waterfront Park

    A host of inflatable attractions will fill Memorial Waterfront Park on Mount Pleasant Splash Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All activities (including a 27-foot Tropical Plunge), admission, and parking are free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

    Aug. 17

    Shaggin’ on the Cooper

    Mount Pleasant Pier

    It’s summertime and that means Shaggin’ on the Pier in Mount Pleasant. Live music starts at 8 p.m. Gates open at 7 o’clock. This event is open to all ages!

    Aug. 24 & 25

    Charleston Beach Music and Shag Festival

    North Charleston Convention Center Ballroom

    The Shag is the official state dance of South Carolina, and we hope you love it as much as we do! If you enjoy beach music and dancing, you’ll enjoy this fun event.

    Aug. 31

    The Sound of Charleston

    Circular Congregational Church, 150 Meeting Street

    This 75-minute concert will showcase the unique sounds that define Charleston’s rich musical heritage. Gospel, Gershwin, music of the Civil War, light classics and jazz pieces will be presented by professional artists at the Circular Congregational Church. The Sound of Charleston is the top-ranked nightlife attraction in the City by Trip Advisor. You don’t want to miss it!

    All Month Long

    Inspector NoClue’s Murder Mystery

    The Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre at 164 Church Street

    This is the classic comic whodunit. With shows on weekends and weeknights, there will be no problem finding a time to visit the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre while you’re in town. Current running shows also include the Pirate Mystery Treasure Show and Sherlock Holmes and the Charleston History Mystery. Tickets range from $15 to $24. College and military discounts are available as well.

    Music on the Green Summer Concert Series

    149 Village Green Lane, Johns Island

    Grab your beach chair or blanket and head to Freshfields Village on Johns Island any Friday evening through the month to hear a live band. Sponsored by the Town of Kiawah, the concert series will feature a variety of bands from the Southeast. It runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Visit their website for a full schedule.

    Charleston Farmer’s Market

    Marion Square

    More than 100 farmers, food vendors, and artisans will set up along King and Calhoun Streets. They’ll give residents and visitors access to the finest local produce, delicious food, unique art and family-friendly entertainment. The market is open every Saturday in August from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
