3. Spoleto Festival USA: May 24, 2019–June 9, 2019
Spoleto Festival is a world-renowned celebration of the music and arts and is widely recognized as the finest performing arts festival in the entire country.
This world-renowned celebration of music was founded by Gian Carlo Menotti, a Pulitzer Prize–winning composer who wanted to create a North American counterpart to the illustrious Festival dei Due Mondi held annually in Spoleto, Italy. When looking for the perfect location that could compete with the charms of the festival’s Italian counterpart host town, he chose none other than Charleston. The event was an awesome success and has continued to be so to this day, now that Spoleto is fast approaching the 43rd season.
