    With the festivities spread over 17 fun-packed days, Piccolo Spoleto offers something for everyone and is the perfect way to get an authentic taste of the truly fascinating regional art scene while exploring the full ambit of Charleston’s historic venues all in one shot.

    3. Spoleto Festival USA: May 24, 2019–June 9, 2019

    Spoleto Festival is a world-renowned celebration of the music and arts and is widely recognized as the finest performing arts festival in the entire country.

    This world-renowned celebration of music was founded by Gian Carlo Menotti, a Pulitzer Prize–winning composer who wanted to create a North American counterpart to the illustrious Festival dei Due Mondi held annually in Spoleto, Italy. When looking for the perfect location that could compete with the charms of the festival’s Italian counterpart host town, he chose none other than Charleston. The event was an awesome success and has continued to be so to this day, now that Spoleto is fast approaching the 43rd season.

    Every year, Spoleto transforms some of Charleston’s most famous sites, including its many celebrated theatres and churches into venues for some of the best classical and contemporary music from across the globe including jazz, opera, classical, and pop, not to mention dance and theatre performances as well.     4. Charleston Carifest Caribbean Carnival: June 20, 2019–June 23, 2019

    Anybody planning a trip this summer will absolutely need to save the date for the highly-anticipated Carifest Caribbean Carnival. In celebration of Caribbean Heritage Month, this festival is designed to honor Caribbean heritage while providing a forum for visitors and locals alike to enjoy the sites, sounds, and tastes of Caribbean culture. Talk about making learning fun.

    Whether it’s dancing, eating, or getting a chance to talk to big-name artists and creators, the Carifest has something to offer everybody, including a jam-packed schedule featuring three main fetes, or parties.     5. Charleston Farmers Market – Every Saturday and Sunday from 8am–2pm
