Charleston Golf Courses that are Fun for Any Handicap

Charleston Golf CoursesBreathtaking views and world-class courses await you in one of the world’s most acclaimed vacation destinations. It just doesn’t get any better than Charleston. You can choose from true links style or tight wooded Lowcountry layouts. No matter what, you’ll find amazing coastal terrain!

Here at the Governor’s House Inn, we want to make sure you enjoy your trip to the fullest extent. We’ve made a list of Charleston golf courses that are fun for any handicap.

Let’s start with the Wild Dunes Harbor Course. The Harbor Golf Course is one of Charleston’s best. Designed by Tom Fazio, it’s known for its challenging design and beautiful views. The course is varied, from lagoons and salt marshes to the Intracoastal Waterway. It will test all aspects of your game. View the score card here.

Next up is Charleston National Golf Club in Mount Pleasant, SC. It is a Rees Jones designed championship golf course that is open to the public year-round. Charleston National Golf Club is truly Charleston’s hidden gem, as it has been rated as the best non-resort course in the Charleston area by Golf Digest.

Breathtaking panoramic views are also available at Patriots Point Links on the edge of Charleston Harbor. Here you’ll have spectacular views of the city, Fort Sumter and ships arriving from all over the world. Patriots Point has been a favorite among locals and visitors alike for years. This course has great amenities as well, including a lighted driving range with PGA instruction, a southern-style clubhouse, and golfers’ grill and patio. For tee times, call 843-881-0042.

The fourth stop on our list is Stono Ferry. The Links at Stono Ferry are set amidst South Carolina Lowcountry breezes from the Intracoastal Waterway and centuries-old live oaks. It’s a refuge from society’s hustle. Stono Ferry is a semi-private club that is open to local and golf vacation play. Located thirty minutes from downtown Charleston, the Links at Stono Ferry are set on the site of a historic Revolutionary War battle. It’s also the closest course to both Kiawah and Seabrook Islands!

We would be amiss without mentioning RiverTowne Country Club, too! It’s a beautiful coastal Carolina country club located in Mount Pleasant. RiverTowne features the best of Charleston golf and Lowcountry hospitality, and is the only Arnold Palmer Signature golf course in the Charleston area. The course was honored with hosting a LPGA Tour event for two years. It features beautiful pampas grasses, marshlands, lakes and some of the Lowcountry’s most beautiful vistas and landscaping. RiverTowne was recently named one of the “Best You Can Play” by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel and was given a high 4.5 Star Rating by Golf Digest’s Places to Play!
