What is it that makes Charleston such a wonderful place to live and work? What is it that makes this place one of the premier tourist destinations in the U.S.? Is it the authentic southern culture, the rich history, or the high-density of amazing eateries all set against a coastal backdrop draped in Spanish moss?
For those of us that live in the area, we know this idyllic place can seem almost too good to be true. As we walk around the colonial architecture and breathe in the salty air, we feel almost transcendent, as if we’ve moved beyond into some alternate dimension wedged somewhere between the modern and the antebellum. We have an amazing setting in which to engage our lives, community, and work, and we are all fortunate to call this place home.
Every year, the Charleston City Paper publishes a “Best of Charleston Issue” that highlights the best establishments throughout the Holy City. You will have a chance to vote on the best restaurant, the best marina, and the best bed and breakfast in the Charleston area. You should take part in this year’s ballot, and have your voice heard for what you consider the best of Charleston. Here are some details from the City Paper regarding the online ballot:
Once again, it’s time for you to cast your ballot in the City Paper’s annual Best of Charleston issue, the one issue of the year where our loyal readers tell us what you like best about the Holy City — the best new restaurant, the best jewelry store, the best local legislator, and much, much more.
Only one entry per person is allowed. Multiple votes per household/location are allowed, but each person must create a separate account. You must vote in a minimum of 35 categories for the ballot to count. Don’t just put the same answer for every category, the ballot will be disqualified.
You can save your ballot and finish at a later time or change your answers. The answers are saved with your account.
We at the Governor’s House Inn, believe Charleston is a remarkable place to live and a wonderful place to visit. If you have the chance to vote this year, remember our little inn on Broad St. when you come to the bed and breakfast category. Happy Voting!
